Marty Stone and Paul Stone are thrilled to announce the sale of Stones’ Phones to the next generation of leadership. Marty and Paul founded Stones' Phones with a clear mission: to move the needle on progressive issues and elect Democrats up and down the ballot. Today, they are proud to pass the baton to a team they trust to carry that legacy forward.
The company’s new President, Chris Hayler, along with Managing Partners Monserrat Machado and Will Wrigley, will guide Stones’ Phones into its next chapter. Chris will lead the firm's overall direction, while Will will help oversee the consulting and strategy team, and Monserrat will ensure the business continues to run seamlessly behind the scenes, overseeing daily operations.
Reflecting on their journey at Stones’ Phones, Marty noted that “When Paul and I started Stones’ Phones 26 years ago, we never imagined that the firm would grow into the juggernaut that it has become. From city council races to presidential races, we have worked coast-to-coast electing good people to office. We are proud of the work we’ve done for all the organizations that have trusted us with their member or voter communications. We are excited for this next chapter for Stones’ Phones.”
In stepping into this new role, Chris says, “Trying to fill Marty and Paul's Florsheims would be impossible. What I can do is honor the 18 years of mentorship and example they've provided me by continuing to build the kind of firm they'd be proud of.”
Chris has been with the firm since 2008, bringing extensive campaign experience, including work on the Clinton, Kerry, and Gore presidential campaigns; Will has been part of the team since 2014, spending the last decade partnering with a wide range of progressive causes and candidates, from environmental groups to presidential campaigns; And Monserrat, with the firm since 2019, has grown into a cornerstone member of Stones' Phones, helping shape the systems and culture that make it run.
Marty and Paul will remain involved in the firm’s mission - after all, it’s still Stones’ Phones.
