Marty Image.png

Marty Stone

Founder

Campaigns and politics are part of the DNA of the Stone family. Marty brings to his client’s decades of political experience in both the legislative and electoral fields. Marty did five election cycles at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (his mother called it “the employer of last resort”!) He also served as the finance director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Marty’s first “real” job was as a media consultant with Laguens, Hamburger, Stone. A former U.S. Congressional candidate himself (Marty came in second), he brings insights and deep experience to his clients’ efforts. He has served as Vice President for government relations for AGRISystems, a firm dedicated to reducing soil erosion and chemical inputs into farming. He lobbied for Environmental Action and the Americans for Democratic Action. At Americans for Democratic Action he worked on Foreign and Defense policy issues before Congress. On a pro-bono basis, Marty has worked with the National Democratic Institute in Bosnia, Croatia, and Azerbaijan. Marty graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara, majoring in Environmental Studies. He is now a Foundation Trustee at UCSB and is very involved with the Promise Scholars program. He is the proud father of Stella Quincy Stone, a Journalism Major at the University of Southern California. If campaigning gets into Stella’s blood, it won’t be a surprise. Marty’s grandmother, Lillian, was a suffragette who practiced civil disobedience, and his mother still runs city council races. Drawing on his roots and a wide range of political and strategic experience, Marty, along with his brother Paul, launched Stones’ Phones in 2000.

Paul Stone_Headshot_edited.jpg

Paul Stone

Founder

Paul Stone is the co-founder of Stones' Phones, a political communications firm specializing in strategic telephone outreach for Democratic campaigns, progressive organizations, labor unions, and nonprofits. Raised in Southern California, Paul developed an early passion for politics by participating in family discussions around the kitchen table about current events, elections, and local issues. That lifelong interest led him to begin his political career as a field staffer on Representative Vic Fazio's congressional reelection campaign before serving as a Field Director for a national Democratic organization. Paul later moved to Washington, D.C., where he spent time at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the political consulting firm Lazlo & Associates. These experiences gave him firsthand knowledge of political campaigns at every level and helped shape the strategic approach he brings to clients today. Before launching Stones' Phones, Paul broadened his management and business experience in the private sector, overseeing the operations of an assisted living community and working in the insurance industry. Those roles strengthened his leadership, customer service, and operational management skills. In 2000, Paul and his brother, Marty Stone, founded Stones' Phones with the goal of providing campaigns and organizations with reliable, innovative, and results-driven voter contact services. Since then, the company has partnered with thousands of Democratic campaigns, advocacy groups, labor unions, and nonprofit organizations across the United States and internationally, helping clients communicate more effectively with voters and supporters. Today, Paul continues to serve as a trusted advisor drawing on decades of experience in politics, business, and strategic communications.
