The Problem
Christine Gregoire was locked in a fierce competition with Dino Rossi for the governorship of Washington. As polls going into Election Day showed the race was a statistical dead heat, the Gregoire campaign new the election would be won on the ground. If Christine Gregoire was to be elected governor, she needed to mobilize the most voters to get up and vote on Election Day.
The Stones' Phones Solution
In a high profile gubernatorial contest during a contentious presidential election, Stone's Phones knew that the key to mobilizing more voters for Christine Gregoire was not only targeting her base, but also new or infrequent voters. Using the state voter file and a live ID call program, we identified which infrequent voters were concerned about Gregoire's issues and which voters were already in support of her. We designed an elaborate program of automated and live GOTV calls including recorded endorsements from Bill Richardson and Former President Clinton designed to drive Christine Gregoire's hard-core supporters as well as new members to of her coalition to the polls on Election Day.
The Result
In the nation's closest and most hotly contested election, Christine Gregoire's GOTV efforts won the election for her. After weeks of recounts, she was declared Washington State's first female governor. By talking to voters the Republican weren't speaking to, we informed these voters that this election was too important for them to miss and that Christine stood for issues they cared about.
