The Office of Rep. Russ Carnahan

Franked Automated Calling

The Problem

At the beginning of 2005, Social Security was on everyone's mind. President Bush was working to push his own agenda on overhauling Social Security, and Democratic leaders around the nation felt compelled to defend this long standing social institution. Newly elected Congressman Russ Carnahan wanted to make sure his district in Missouri knew where he stood on Social Security, so he held town hall meetings in his district to explain his position. Congressman Carnahan wanted to make sure these meetings were well attended so that his constituents could be properly informed on this important issue.

The Stones' Phones Solution

Stones' Phones delivered a series of automated calls to constituents in Representative Carnahan's district clearly telling his constituents about scheduled town hall meetings being led by the Congressman. These calls were sent out two days before each event. In the pre-recorded message, Congressman Carnahan was able to invite his constituents to join him and share their thoughts on Social Security in a medium that could convey the Representative's concern and dedication.

The Result

The franked autodials for Carnahan's town hall meetings motivated his constituents and proved a huge success. District Director Jim Pederson said, "Our first Social Security Town Hall attracted over 200 participants to a public library in the district. Local police had to direct traffic for parking and the standing-room-only crowd poured into the corridors. Stones' Phones made all the difference for us!"
